Professional qualified instructors, ready to provide you with the best training experience.
Here is a little about your new head instructors!
Glauco De Almeida
I began my Jiu-Jitsu journey at the age of 13. Immediately falling in love with the sport and our team at GB Sydney. From my early days as a kid I already knew I was going to make jiu jitsu my way of life. With having my own GB school one off my primary goals.
Being heavily involved in the jiu jitsu lifestyle, I began competing and also teaching from 15 years old. After years of hard work and dedication I was given the opportunity to become chief head instructor at GB Sydney from 2019 onwards.
Competition has always been something I enjoyed. Having collected many titles a long the way. Some of my major accomplishments are: - IBJJF Asian Open champion - IBJJF Pan Pacific champion - Australian National Champion - IBJJF Sydney weight and absolute champion - IBJJF Melbourne champion weight and absolute champion - Multi super fight champion
I received my black belt from professor Marcelo Rezende in December of 2018, becoming the youngest black belt he had awarded, I was 23 at the time. I have been fortunate enough to get to train and spend time with some of the biggest names in Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Barra. The likes of Flavio Almeida, Romulo Barral, Victor Estima to name a few. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion in Jiu jitsu with you guys!
Henrique Eiji Prates Itikawa
My first encounter in martial arts was at 6 years old doing judo but stopped when I was 12 years. However at 13 years old I missed martial arts and from recommendation from a friend I decided to try Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From that first class I fell in love with the sports and knew that I would never stop.
I then began to be heavily involved in Jiu-Jitsu, completing and travelled to America to train with some of the world known fighters such as Romulo Barral, Felipe Pena, Gabriel Arges and many others. While in America I was then given the opportunity to coach where I found my passion to teach. After returning home I co-owned a gym, Gracie Barra Floresta for 3 years. I was then awarded my black belt in 2017.
In 2018 I moved to Australia on an exchange program to study and teach Jiu-Jitsu, where I was introduced to the Gracie Barra HQ Brookvale team. I have been teaching there ever since coming to Australia and met Glauco De Almeida who is now my Business partner.
I am looking forward to this new chapter and meeting all you guys! Hope to see you all on the mats.
